My Sister and D

My sister and her fiance D came down on Sunday for dinner. Since we went on our trip to Vegas, she is hooked on caching so after dinner we decided to go find a multiply cache in the Springville Cemetery (sorry no pictures). We had a blast walking around the small cemetery and finding headstones. After finding all the stones, D looked in the spot where the cache was hidden but totally over looked it. Good thing we were there or he'd never have found it.
After finding the multiply, we decided to go find a cache that has foiled us in the past. Once we got to the High School, I told my sister were to look and up she climbed. Good thing she was there or else we would never have fun it. (I'm not as young and limber as I used to be!)

I'm so glad that they got to come down and spend some time with us. I sure do love them!

Happy Father's Day!

My hubby is so great! He works super hard so that I can stay home, he does without, and he never (hardly never) complains! For Father's Day he got homemade ravioli, a new pair of shorts, and a geocaching trip! I don't know if he likes to cache was much as I do but I think he likes to get out and see nature! We decided to go find a couple of the Lord of the Rings caches. It took a little while to find how to get to Gimili and Frodo but after putting the Jeep into 4 wheel we made it.
Gimli was easy. Just sitting under a tree. The cache was full of water, which shows you just how carefully you need to be when putting caches back. Make sure the closed securely!

Frodo was just south of Gimli but my GPS was freaking out so it took a little while to find it. Once my GPS settled down, I found it with no problem! Just like the beginning of the LOTR movie, Frodo was sitting under a tree.

After finding Gimli and Frodo, we drove down the road and found Elrond. Like the others, Elrond was resting just off the road under a tree. This one was an easy find but the cottonwood trees were dropping their fluff and I was sneezing the rest of the night.

This is usually how the hubby and lil G geocache. They sit in the car while I jump out and find it.

We finally got out to find another on of the Lord of the Rings Caches. This was our first elf. Arwen was hidden just off a trail by the river. My GPS was a little off but after widening my search area, we found it! We left a tracking bug and took a smiley face ring. This one was fun because lil G got to walk around the trail but he wanted to get down by the river with me so the hubby had his hands full trying to keep him on the trail!

#3 in 5 of my 1/2 hour run. This one was by a fenced in baseball field. I decided that I was either going to be on the correct side or I'd have to jump the fence. Luckily I was on the right side of the fence because honestly, I don't think I could have made it over the fence. Once I got zoned in with the GPS I could tell where it was.

Can you see where the cache might be hidden? (sorry it's sideways)

Country Roads Take Me Home #4

This was the 2nd of 5 that I found in 30 minutes! I was pretty proud of myself! This one was in a tree just off a country road.

I must have moved when I took this picture! This is the tree I found the cache in. I wouldn't have posted it but I thought it looks really cool!

This is the cache! The coin above my GPS is a GeoCoin. That's what I took! More about Geocoins to come.

Colonel Potter M*A*S*H Cache

On afternoon after I put lil G down for his nap I decided that I wanted to see how many caches I could find in 30 Minutes. Well... I found 5! I think that's a lot of caches! I'm lucky and living pretty close to a bunch of caches so it wasn't too hard to get that number! This was the first on I found! It was was pretty easy! Good clues, close to the road. I love when I find caches!

This is where Colonel Potter Lives

You can tell I was hurrying to get this one. I didn't even close the car door!

South-East Springville Photo Hunt

I got onto the Geocaching site one night and found that a new Mystery Cache was posted. For this cache you needed to find where the locations of the pictures are then get their coordinates and put in the missing number in the master Coords. I knew where most of the pictures were but there was a problem. The baby was asleep so I called a friend to site with the baby and off I went. Driving down dark streets on my Scooter was great! I found all of the pictures and then called the Kelly's to see if they were looking for the new cache to. They were so we met up to compare notes. We had the same numbers so we drove to the cord and FOUND IT! Not only did we found it but we were the first to find it! This is the first time that I found it first (ok with the Kelly's). Here are the pictures that I had to find! This was a great cache!

Vegas!

My little sister needed a break so we left town at 8:30 and headed down to visit my dad in Vegas! We got there at 2 and didn't sleep long after that. While waiting for my step mom to get home from running errands, we decided to grab some close caches. We grabbed 2 and then went out to enjoy the day. When we got home, we decided to get 3 more. My step mom is a cacher and my dad and sister soon decided that they loved it! The next morning after visiting my step grandma Sally, we found 2 more. (Sorry no pictures. I left my camera at home.) When we drove through Mesquite we wanted to find a cache but it was too well hidden. I love GEOCACHING!!!

This was the 2nd day that I watched Josh so we walked down to another cache. I have been to this one 2 times before I found it. The first 2 times I found that it was under the bridge/road and that I had to wade it the water. I thought it was in the creek but after a search I just couldn't find it. So again I called the Kelly's for a hint. They told me were to find it and low and behold there it was. Good thing I had brought a tool (I brought the tool for a different cache but I couldn't get it with them) I was able to snatch it with the tongs! The water was a little cool but it was nice!

Josh was upset that I wouldn't let him get in the creek. It was COLD!

Summer Fun and Into the Woods

My cousin asked me to watch her 9 year old son last week so what did we do? We went geocaching of course! Nate took the car to work so we found these fairly close to the house and walked there.

This one was on a man made path next to Hobble Creek. The terrain isn't too difficult unless you are pushing a stroller like I was. Josh was the one to find this one, with very little help from me. It was really easy! G loved to see the river. He got made that I wouldn't let him jump in.

G next to the creek. He really wanted to get in.

Into the Woods
Size Small, Difficulty 2, Terrain 2
(Hint- Hope you don't get "stumped" by this)
This one is on a man made trail on the other side of the river from Summer Fun! This one had us stumped for a little while. We looked every where on that stump. I was ready to give in but Josh wouldn't so I decided to widen my search and there it was! It was hidden in a downed tree behind the stump! This was a great hide!

Josh found the stump! Now where is the cache?

I FOUND IT! Can you see it?

Here are the 3 of us. Josh got that Indian out of the cache!
(BTW- My son is adorable!)

Catching Up

It's been a while since I updated my blog but I've still been Geocaching so I have a lot to catch up on. So if you just checked back and seen that there a 10 more posts since the last time you checked...That's why. Thanks for checking in on me and keep on hunting!

The Search is On!

While I was on the geocaching website (www.Geocaching.com) , I discovered a huge Mystery cache. It’s a Lord of the Rings themed series of caches (a lot of the caches have themes). The final cache is called the One Cache to Rule Them All. To find the final cache, you need to find the 5 missing numbers in the cords. These numbers are found in 5 Master Caches (Hobbit, Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Evil) but to find those you need to find 5 individual caches (ex. Merry, Pippin, Frodo, Sam, and Bilbo for the Hobbit) for each master. Like the final cache, these caches are missing cords and you need to find each “hobbit” to find the master cache. The caches range from Orem to Salem.
I was very interested in these caches, so on the way home from G’s doctor’s appointment; we met Meriadoc Brandybuck on the side of a country road. Like the cache details said, hobbits love country life and I think that a hobbit would have been quite happy on this road. I looked around but I’m not as fast as Nate, he found it before I did. That’s why I bring him with me! He is a great cacher!

G Chilling in the Car While We took Pictures

Merry was so glad that we came to see him that he told us to go see Sam. We got back in the car and drive down the road for a while until we found Sam resting by a pond under a tree. The boys stayed in the car and I trekked it down a small weedy embankment to get to him. It took me a while because I don’t kind putting my hands in places that spiders might be but I toughened up and found it! Only 3 more hobbits until I can find master! I can’t wait!
