On My Honor

On My Honor- Size Regular, Difficulty 1.5, Terrain 1 (Hint- "Sprinkler Box")
This cache was a boy scout themed cache. I'm new to caching so I feel weird going onto other people's property but this one was just off of the driveway. It looks like a regular sprinkler box but if you look closer you'll see small geocaching stickers on the sides.

Once I popped open the top, I found an ammunition and a lot of bugs!

Inside was a bunch of boy scout patches and geocoins. I took the Lincoln City coin and left my signature item. (That my GPS too!)

This cat lived at the house. It came up to me and let me pet him, while I signed the log and took pictures!

A Girl's Best Friend

I know I said that I wouldn't tell you the name of the cache but in reality it's a lot harder to explain a cache when you have to say, "This one" all of the time, so this cache was called A Girl's Best Friend. I'm from the area and knew right a way where this one was. The person was who placed this cache was quite clever with the name.

"Diamond's are a girl's best friend!"

Right on top of the sign

After I cleaned out the cache

Now I want to let off a little steam. When I first fount this cache, it was filled with cake! Why was it filled with cake, you might ask? Because somebody who is ignorant of Geocaching found it and decided that since they had no idea what it was, they would ruin it. Why would someone do that? If you don't Geocache and find a cache please put it back exactly how you found it. It's not funny or clever to destroy it. Thanks for letting me vent!

Acronyms

While I was trolling around the Geocaching web site, I found a bunch of words that made absolutely no sense to me. So I did my research they are common acronyms that cachers use pretty frequently. Here is a list most common acronyms and what they mean-

  • BYOP- Bring your own pencil. The caches are usually too small to hold a pencil
  • CITO- Cache in, Trash out. This is a good way to practice Geo-Caching. It means to go in to find a cache and bring out trash you’ve found along the way. It helps to keep our world clean!
  • DNF- Did not find
  • FTF- First to find. This is written by the lucky person who finds the Cache first.
  • TFTC- Thanks for the cache.
  • TFTH- Thanks for the hide.
  • TNLN- Took nothing, left nothing
  • TNLNSL/TNSL- Took nothing, Left nothing, Signed Logbook
  • Muggle- Non-geocacher
  • Signature Items- Special items unique to a person

This should help you understand the cachers that have been at it for a while. I know that when I first started, I had no idea what most people where talking about. Don’t forget to get out there and get searching!!!

Ducks

Ok. I know. This isn't a post about geocaching but it is about some family fun we had with my dad and the ducks! I love that the weather is getting warm enough to get out and enjoy nature.

This is G checking out the ducks and geese.

These ducks were not shy. They waddled right up to us and ate bread from my dad's hands.

My dad, G, and Me with the ducks.

Finally

I finally have my GPS back. My mom came down to get G for the night and she brought it back! I'm so excited to get hunting.
