While I was trolling around the Geocaching web site, I found a bunch of words that made absolutely no sense to me. So I did my research they are common acronyms that cachers use pretty frequently. Here is a list most common acronyms and what they mean-
- BYOP- Bring your own pencil. The caches are usually too small to hold a pencil
- CITO- Cache in, Trash out. This is a good way to practice Geo-Caching. It means to go in to find a cache and bring out trash you’ve found along the way. It helps to keep our world clean!
- DNF- Did not find
- FTF- First to find. This is written by the lucky person who finds the Cache first.
- TFTC- Thanks for the cache.
- TFTH- Thanks for the hide.
- TNLN- Took nothing, left nothing
- TNLNSL/TNSL- Took nothing, Left nothing, Signed Logbook
- Muggle- Non-geocacher
- Signature Items- Special items unique to a person
This should help you understand the cachers that have been at it for a while. I know that when I first started, I had no idea what most people where talking about. Don’t forget to get out there and get searching!!!
